Security

SSH - Secure Shell Host

HyperLink uses SSH - Secure Shell Host or command execution and other secure network services between two networked computers, connecting via a secure channel over an insecure network such as the Internet: a server and a client (running SSH server and SSH client programs respectively).

You will need to set a Passcode when launching HyperLink for the first time. Please see: Apple’s Support Page on Data Protection.

Your Passcode provides an important layer of protection for your data. We recommend that you enable Data Protection on your iPad through the Settings Menu for additional security.

HyperLink’s Passcode is a second layer of app-level Passcode protection and can’t be turned off by default. So, please make a note of your HyperLink Passcode. There is no ‘Reset Passcode’ option.

If you do forget you HyperLink Passcode, you will have to first delete the app and then reinstall, which means losing your indexed data and conducting a new initial indexing process.

Before you launch HyperLink for the first time, you’ll need:

  • A Login IP or Hostname (if you are accessing your Mac from a 3G or different network, you will need a Hostname which is easily set up from Dyn DNS or Port Forwarding). Please note, these services is not free. There is a free service at No-IP.
  • You will need a Mac OS X user name and password (Molten Mango’s developers recommend the use of a  strong password to protect against hacking).

If you are unfamiliar with these technical concepts on your Mac, please refer to Getting Started for a step by step explanation:
